Amersham named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2025

Why Heatherton?
Is it for our fantastic location – one of only two Buckinghamshire towns to be listed in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live?
We are delighted to see Amersham identified by The Sunday Times’ team of experts as one of the top places to live in the UK. Described by the judges as offering “the best of both worlds”, Amersham benefits from both “the fresh-air charms of countryside living” and “every urban convenience.” No wonder it’s seen as a “prime commuter hotspot.”
We are pleased to see Heatherton identified as a “popular prep school” in the guide to Amersham’s ‘Best Schools’. With our excellent 11+ preparation, we are in a prime location for the girls to move on to “Buckinghamshire’s high-achieving grammar schools”. Many of our girls (32%) go on to Dr Challoner’s High School, which is ranked 38 in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide to state secondaries.
The judges have all personally visited the locations and assessed factors from schools to transport, access to green spaces and the health of the high street.
“We talk to locals to find out what they love most about the places they call home,” said the guide’s editor Helen Davies. “This could be anything from high-achieving schools and reliable commuter links to cafés and culture or somewhere wonderful to walk the dog. More than anything else, what we are looking for are towns, villages and cities with strong, hard-working communities who love where they live.”
Join us at our upcoming Open Event on May 9 to explore the charms of Amersham and see for yourself how Heatherton contributes to this wonderful community. Book now.
