Berkhamsted staff take to the stage with ‘Berkmythsted’

Rumour has it that the Berkhamsted staff community have been working on something very special over the last few months… oh yes they have! The infamous staff panto returns this week and promises to be a show like no other – a playful fusion of Ancient Greece with contemporary television shows, all performed by familiar faces as you’ve never seen them before.

Written by our very own Alistair Harrison and directed by none other than Lucinda Jarvis, Berkmythsted is a celebration of storytelling that showcases our staff at their very best. “The good humour and sheer enthusiasm of the company have turned this into more than a play,” says Mr Harrison. “It’s a shared act of camaraderie and playfulness, which are at the heart of the staff community here.”

Not only does Berkmythsted provide some well-deserved comic relief at the end of a busy term, but it’s raising money for a good cause as well. All proceeds from the play will go to ‘Crohn’s and Colitis UK’ – a charity which funds research into and provides support for people living with Crohn’s or Colitis, the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease. The charity aims to break the silence around these conditions and raise awareness of their symptoms to encourage early diagnosis. This is a cause which is incredibly close to the hearts of many members in our School community, and we are proud to be supporting such an important charity.

So, whether you’re a classics enthusiast, a panto lover, or just keen to see our staff in a new light, step into the world of Berkmythsted!
