Berkhamsted School prepares to commemorate VE Day

Our teachers have spent the last few days sharing with pupils details of VE Day,  Tuesday, 8 May 1945,  to further their understanding of the history behind the ‘virtual’ celebrations being planned for today – the 75th Anniversary.

Our Vice Principal prepared a special assembly for our Senior Schools yesterday – encouraging all pupils to take time to reflect on the service given by previous generations and sharing his own personal story of his grandfather.

Our Prep pupils have had a number of remote lessons encouraging them to take part in the celebrations from English Comprehension to designing their own war medals.

One lucky pupil was able to take inspiration from his Grandfather’s medals which he has proudly shared with his class friends.

Our Pre-Prep staff have created a video using the iconic ‘We’ll Meet Again’ song by Vera Lynn – holding a new meaning for all our community this year.

We hope you all enjoy your celebrations at home and appreciate the time to share your own family stories of this time in history, which will help to continue the memories and thankfulness to those who went before us and gave so much.

We shall never forget.
