  • Athletic Development lessons appropriate to their age and development
  • Mentoring in Sport Psychology, Nutrition, Goal setting and Lifestyle Planning

Opportunities

Berkhamsted has a rich footballing tradition and the number of pupils who play the sport across the age ranges in the school is huge.  Boys football is well established at Berkhamsted but with the recent popularity in Girls football, the school is now catering well for both. The school field 10 boys teams in the first term with U12A-E and U13A-E playing. In the second term Berkhamsted can field up to 22 teams from Y9-Y13. At the moment the girls have fewer teams but work well alongside Lacrosse and Netball to give the girls as much opportunity to play as possible. Throughout their School life the pupils will have opportunities to choose football as a games option, and there are also a number of football clubs after school for girls and boys.

Coaches

Berkhamsted boasts a highly experienced football coaching team. Pupils benefit from the expertise of teachers and coaching staff within the PE department. In addition to our full-time PE teachers, we also have coaching staff from partner organisations who supplement our teachers’ knowledge.

Fixtures

In the first term the Juniors have a challenging and varied fixture card with a mixture of local school and opposition further afield such as Kimbolton and Hampton.  In the second term Berkhamsted play in the Independent School Southern Lent term league which boasts some of the top football schools in the South. Harrow, St Paul’s, Haileybury, Dulwich, and Tonbridge all compete in mini leagues with results posted weekly online. This adds a fantastic element to matches for the pupils as they look to battle it out for the league title. On the fixture card the school also play the likes of Wellington, Abingdon, Brentwood. The Girls compete against local schools but are also expanding the fixture card to play more frequently.

Competitions

Berkhamsted enter a number of Independent School Football Association (ISFA) cup competitions and have traditionally done very well reaching the final of the U13 Boys Shield and the quarter final of the U18 Boodles cup in recent years. In 2025, national titles included the Girls’ 1XI being crowned winners of the ISFA Football Shield, while the Boys’ 2XI, 3XI and U15B teams secured victories in the Southern Independent Schools Lent League. Individual successes also shone through, with Hugo signing a contract with Crystal Palace Academy and Sophie earning a place with Oxford United Academy. The U11 boys, U11 girls,  U13 boys, U13 girls, U15 boys, U15 girls, U18 boys and U18 girls are all entered into the various ISFA competitions this year and look forward to playing their cup matches.  The U18 boys and girls use the Stadium at Berkhamsted FC for their matches which is always a fantastic experience for players and spectators alike.

An historic step - The senior girl’s cricket squad have just returned from their pre-season trip to La Manga, Spain. The first ever girls cricket tour.

The five day trip saw the girls play in the La Manga Women’s T20 Classic tournament. They played four group games, including victories against Streatham & Marlborough CC, Switzerland and Spain, before meeting Hursley Park CC in the final. With Hursley Park 97/4 off 13.1 overs, rain meant the game was abandoned and trophy shared, whilst captain Amelia also brought home the bowling award for the most wickets in the tournament (10 @ 5.0).

Thank you to everyone @lmtccspain & @teamtravelmanagement for a great week.
