Heatherton’s Festive Community Spirit

Heatherton’s Festive Community Spirit

Heatherton’s Reception class felt full of festive spirit last week when they visited St Michaels and All Angels church on Sycamore Road in Amersham to decorate a Christmas tree that the school had sponsored. Heatherton were delighted to take part in the churches of Amersham’s Christmas Tree Festival, where the community can ‘sponsor’ a tree, with funds going to local charities, and the girls really enjoyed making their own tree decorations and taking a trip down to their tree to ‘trim’ it. “Spending time in the church also helped to reinforce the themes our girls have been learning as part of their Nativity play preparation,” said Reception teacher Alison Holmes. “They had worked really hard all week on their decorations and were very excited to be able to be part of this wonderful community festival.”

“My favourite part was putting my decoration at the top of the tree,” said excited pupil Caitlin. “I needed a little help from my teacher getting to the very top!”

“Reverend Debbie let us see the other trees in the church too,” said her classmate Seren. “They all looked beautiful.”

Heatherton’s tree will be on display with all the other sponsored trees in St Michaels and All Angels Church until Thursday 14th December.
