Our Sixth Form offers outstanding teaching, diverse opportunities, and strong preparation for life beyond school. Below you’ll find our admissions process, which will guide you from enquiry through to your first day.
One of the most important early steps is completing our registration form and paying the registration fee. This confirms your child as a candidate for entry. For Year 12 entry in September 2027, the deadline for registration and scholarship applications is Friday 23 October 2026 by 17:00 . Register for Berkhamsted Schools Group
The first step in securing your child’s place within the Berkhamsted Schools Group is to complete our online registration form. There is a non‑refundable Registration Fee of £224 per child. Once registered, you’ll be considered an official candidate, and our Admissions Team will be in touch to guide you through the next stages.
For Year 12 entry in September 2027, the deadline for registration is Friday 23 October 2026 by 17:00.

Saturday 14 November 2026 – Holistic Assessment Day, including student assessments, testing, and interviews
The threshold for general entry to Berkhamsted Sixth in September 2026 will be 43 points based on the student’s best 8 subject scores, with a minimum requirement of a Grade 6 in the subjects you wish to study. Please note that some subjects have a higher entry requirement than a 6. Further details of these requirements can be found in our A Level Curriculum Guide. It will also be necessary for students to be able to qualify to study 3 A Level subjects. Where a child began Year 10 studying 8 GCSEs and is taking the Learning Support Option, the entry criteria will be 38 points from 7 GCSEs.
In addition to the general entrance requirements outlined above, there are specific admission requirements relating to certain courses. Further details of these requirements can be found in our A Level Curriculum Guide.
Saturday 14 November 2026 – Holistic Assessment Day, including student assessments, testing, and interviews
Our assessment day is designed to assess a student’s character strengths and academic ability. We know that character is central to students’ wellbeing and outcomes and want to make sure that the students who are offered places will thrive at Berkhamsted Sixth. Therefore, the assessment is comprised of the following:
- A character-strengths-based interview
- A presentation followed by a small-group discussion
- A verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning test
A reference from the prospective student’s current school is also required.
Overseas students, once registered, applicants will be invited to take our entrance assessments. We have partnered with UKiset and all international applicants are required to complete a UKiset test which forms part of our assessment along with an interview. A copy of the student’s latest school report and a reference from their current school is also required.

If your application is successful, you’ll receive an offer along with details on how to confirm your place. Key dates for offers and acceptances are listed below.
Assessment and Scholarship result letters will be emailed to families
Deadline for acceptance of place sent to Admissions. If you fail to confirm acceptance and make an acceptance deposit payment by this date the offer will be withdrawn and the place re-allocated.
