Boarding at Berkhamsted

Why board at Berkhamsted?

Boarding at Berkhamsted offers students a safe and caring environment in which to develop the skills and character strengths that will enable them to thrive and be successful beyond school.

Our boarding community is a thriving and important part of school life at Berkhamsted. We have space for just under 100 students across our 2 boarding houses, one for boys and one for girls. Students may choose full boarding from Year 9 (boys) and flexi boarding is available in both houses from Year 7.

  • Builds independence and preparation for life after Berkhamsted. (Remarkable people).
  • Location, houses located on the Berko High street.
  • Excellent transport links.
  • Warm and caring community with high staff to student ratio.
  • No Saturday school. (Fixtures)
  • Something related to UK boarders/sports scholars

We encourage our boarders to play a full role in the life of the School and embrace the School values by aiming high with integrity, being adventurous and serving others.

Berkhamsted boarders are treated with respect as individuals, irrespective of age, religion, nationality, sexuality, ethnicity or cultural background. Our four resident members of boarding staff across both houses and one Matron in each House aim to create a homely atmosphere where students can be themselves and grow as young adults.

Berkhamsted is historic market town…..The school is situated within the idyllic Chiltern Hills market town of Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire with a local community vibe similar to the ‘London village atmosphere’ that our London families enjoy; yet it is only 30minutes direct from London Euston and under 40minutes by car from both Heathrow and Luton airports – making it an easy commutable town.  Our location has the benefits of being in a bustling town, with easy access to the countryside.
