New House rooms and more: New pupils attend induction day and seniors return
Berkhamsted’s school sites became yet again filled with chatter and enthusiasm this week as our seniors returned for another busy year. Across both the Boys and Girls Schools, we warmly welcomed our pupils joining from Berkhamsted Prep who were ready to get stuck in with all the challenges and opportunities that our senior schools have to offer. Equally, it was wonderful to see fresh faces amongst the cohort as we greeted pupils joining us from schools across the country and overseas.
Our new pupils attended an induction day to ease them into the vibrant school life and get to know one another. Pupils were introduced to their House rooms and quickly began making friends through energetic games of table tennis and pool. One pupil described his new House as ‘so full of life’ and was looking forward to a fresh start. Others gushed over the sporting opportunities (rugby, football and golf were very popular), drama clubs and school lunches – everyone was keen to try something new.
The first day back was particularly exciting for members of Olde Stede and Holme Houses, who were finally able to see their newly refurbished House rooms. Pupils greeted their new rooms with enthusiasm, describing them as ‘fresh’ and ‘much more spacious’. The newly painted striped walls were also a big hit!
While new beginnings can be daunting – be it a new classroom, new subject, or even a new school – our pupils were all remarkably eager to throw themselves into every activity, demonstrating that adventurous spirit which has become a hallmark of Berkhamstedians.
It looks like our seniors are off to a flying start already!
