OB Henry Fraser holds art exhibition

Henry Fraser, a former pupil of Berkhamsted School (Loxwood, 2003-2008), announced earlier this year that he will be holding the first public exhibition of his art, Hand to Mouth, in July.

Like his brothers, Tom, Will and
Dom, Henry excelled at sport during his time at Berkhamsted, before moving to
Dulwich College for Sixth Form. Then, while on holiday in Portugal celebrating
the end of his AS exams in July 2009, he dived into the sea, hit his head on
the seabed and dislocated the fourth vertebrae in his neck, leaving him unable
to move from his neck down.

After rediscovering his love and
joy of art last year, Henry now draws and paints controlling the utensils by
attaching them to a mouth stick. His paintings and drawings of the world’s most
famous sports stars and other celebrities who inspire him have won many
plaudits and proved extremely popular on social media, attracting admiration
from Usain Bolt and David Beckham, among many others.

Such has been the success of
Henry’s work that he was commissioned by The Times to provide an action
painting of Chris Robshaw for the front cover of their first rugby World Cup
supplement.

Having previously thought that
many doors had been shut following his accident, Henry believes that in fact it
has opened so many more: “adversity has given me a gift. I may not be able to
use my hands to do any of the work but sometimes you just have to adapt to
life’s challenges.” Henry’s courage and remarkably positive outlook on life serve as an inspiration
to us all.

Hand to Mouth will feature much
of his work and limited edition prints will be available to purchase on the
day.

We encourage everyone to join Henry in celebrating his first public art exhibition, which is free to attend, on Saturday 9th July at the Grove Hotel – full details on the poster or via the website link below:
