Pre-Prep serve others with Alternatives Charity!
The children at Berkhamsted Pre-Prep proudly demonstrated our school value of ‘Serving Others’ by raising money for Alternatives, a local charity dedicated to supporting women facing pregnancy-related challenges.
As part of their annual Lent project, children across the Pre-Prep were committed to raising funds for Alternatives’ baby basket project. This initiative collects necessities like blankets, wipes, books, and clothes for new mothers who cannot afford these essentials themselves.
Over Easter, pupils were busy completing household chores and helping out family and friends in return for donations towards the basket project. The children even wrote down which items they would like to collect, thinking creatively and independently about the needs of new mothers and babies. From baby grows to toys, the children came up with useful and important suggestions for what a new mother may need.
Remarkably, pupils raised a total of 2300 pounds for Alternatives, enough to provide over 30 baskets to struggling mothers. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
To congratulate and thank the pupils for their outstanding efforts, Laura Moreno, Alternatives Head of Operations, made a surprise visit during this week’s Friday assembly. The children were thrilled to see a real-life example of a baby basket, and Laura’s visual demonstration helped them understand the impact of their hard work.
The assembly concluded with pupils leaving, filled with pride for having served others this term. Their commitment to the value of ‘Serve Others’ is truly commendable.
