Pupils join Prince William in environmental sampling

Two Berkhamsted pupils had the incredible opportunity to meet Prince William last week.

Amari P (Berkhamsted Prep) and Jiya P (Berkhamsted Girls) joined the Prince as he visited NatureMetrics, a finalist in the 2024 Earthshot Prize. Founded by Prince William in 2020, the Earthshot Prize was launched to find the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.

NatureMetrics simplifies the collection and reporting of environmental data to help tackle environmental degradation. While traditional sampling methods are slow and expensive, NatureMetrics designs simple eDNA collection kits to revolutionise the scale of data collection.

Amari and Jiya joined Prince William in collecting eDNA samples from a lake, contributing to important biodiversity monitoring efforts. They had an amazing time and were so excited to be part of the day.
