Heatherton
House are celebrating after a hugely successful performance in the Chiltern
Triathlon this Sunday 26th June. The Chiltern Harriers run event
held at Chesham Leisure Centre and Chesham Grammar School saw local children
aged 8 to 16 competing in a ‘taster’ junior triathlon
involving swimming lengths of the Chesham Leisure pool, and cycling and running
around the Chesham Grammar School fields. Heatherton House had eight girls
competing and picked up an impressive four medals, including Bronze for sisters Carrie and Ellie Shield, Gold for Year 5 athlete Hannah Ashby and a Team Gold for Hannah and team mates Ellie Shield and
Annie Reynolds. They were presented their medals by local dignitary and
Chairman of the Chiltern District Council Mimi Harker OBE.

A huge well done to all the medal winners and to
Laura, Emma and Meg in Year 4 who came fourth as a team in
their age group, and to Holly in Year 5 for competing strongly in the higher age group to her classmates, running and
cycling twice as far having missed the age band by three days and
coming an admirable fifth.

“I am so impressed with the sporting commitment the Heatherton girls and
their families show,” says Heatherton’s proud PE Teacher Caroline Adams. “Thank you to our Tri Coach Sandra Barden and well done to all who
competed, it was a brilliantly run event and a great experience for all Chiltern
athletes.”
