Science meets Music for Year 7

This term saw the Music and Science Departments combine for an exciting space-themed concert for Year 7 pupils from Castle and Kings.

The event saw each music class perform their own song – highlights included 99 Red Balloons and Space Girl as well as several Year 7 pupils giving solo performances. The evening also featured whole year group performances, with Elton John’s Rocket Man a particular highlight.

Another feature of the evening were some experiments from the science staff, who entertained the audience with a range of demonstrations and plenty of interesting facts, as shown below:

It was an excellent experience for Year 7, not only allowing them the opportunity to perform alongside their peers, but also giving them the chance to see links between the different subjects they study and to understand the value of cross-discipline events such as these.
