Silver medal for Ella at national swimming finals

Report by Jamie Hornshaw, Head of Prep School

Congratulations to Ella Nijkamp who won silver at the The Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) National Swimming finals in Crawley at the weekend. Her personal best time in the U11 50m backstroke now places her second fastest out of all pupils in the 670 schools within IAPS, a fantastic achievement!

At the same event, the U11 girls 4 x 25m medley and 4 x 25m freestyle teams were placed 7th and 8th Nationally. Again, we are very proud of the entire team of Lydia Wisely, Millie Day, Freya McDonagh and Ella Nijkamp.

The team had an opportunity to meet Olympic swimmer Michael Jamieson who won Siliver at London 2012.

Heatherton House, a member of Berkhamsted Schools Group, were crowned National Champions after winning the 200m Relay Team. It is the eighth time Heatherton has taken the top spot in this event in the 17 years of the Championships

So proud of our Small Schools 200m Relay Team who swam their way to gold at the @iapsuksport Swimming Champs! @GoodNews_Schls #swimming pic.twitter.com/ROPxaLO5Y6
