Our two Year 12 Student Consultancy teams are incredibly grateful to their clients, The @berkocastle Trust and @hectorshere, for their support, guidance, and time throughout this year’s programme.
Presenting their research, insights, and recommendations to these valued local charities, along with their full written reports, gave our students a unique opportunity to experience the realities of working a client.
We are proud of the professionalism, dedication, and creativity they demonstrated throughout the project, and thankful to both organisations for helping make this such a rewarding experience.

This year we celebrated 962 UK university offers, including places at Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities. This is testament to our student’s academic talent and passion, taking every opportunity offered to them.

Record-breaking EPQ results
We’re incredibly proud of our @berkhamstedsixth students who’ve received Berkhamsted’s best ever EPQ results this year. 112 students completed an EPQ and 88.4% received an A*-A grade.

To recognise #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, students in this morning’s @berkhamstedsixth Assembly encouraged everyone to TAKE ACTION to support good mental health. 💚
They asked us to:
• Think of a small action you have taken yourself to support your mental health
• Consider how ready you are to support someone else
• Reflect on ideas to improve the wellbeing of everyone in our community
In the Zaha Hadid building, students were encouraged to put their phones away and take part in mindful colouring, puzzles, chess and card games. We were delighted to see how popular the mindful colouring activities proved to be.

From welly throwing and netball hoops to rowing, tug of war, long jump and crossing the river, it was all about teamwork, laughter and making memories with friends.

From dog walks under the stars to the studio 🎶
Year 13 student Harry V is turning his love of music into something truly meaningful, releasing his debut EP ‘Songs I Wrote on a Dog Walk’ while raising funds for @warchilduk 💙
Inspired by evening walks and recorded live with his band with @hotvoxmusic at the @soundhouse_ltd studios, the EP captures Harry’s creativity, honesty and passion, all in support of an incredible cause. Over the coming weeks, Harry and his band will be taking on fundraising challenges including gigs, lawn mowing and dressing up as a Minion in Oxford Street! 🍌
Harry has been involved with music and drama at Berkhamsted since his arrival in Year 9, appearing in numerous musicals and ensembles. “Music at Berkhamsted is really fun, and the staff are just brilliant. They really love the music as well, and they’re passionate about what they’re teaching.”
Malcolm Melling, Head of Ensembles and Co-Director of Music, shared, Harry is increasingly self‑sufficient and confident in his abilities; our role is now to support, listen, and help in any way we can. There is no doubt that he has a bright and exciting future ahead of him.”

It’s Beatrixsted!
The Sixth tutors/ Beatrix Potter characters banded together to save the Zaha Hadid meadow from the evil Mr MacGregor, led by the brave Peter Rabbit. 🐇
This was a great chance to relax and laugh after a busy term, and to celebrate the meadow as one of Richard Backhouse’s lasting contributions to the School.

Over £5,000 was raised for an incredible cause at @berkhamstedsixth’s fantastic biannual Musical Charity Auction in support of @gracekellychildhoodcancertrust 🎶💛
The evening showcased 15 talented musicians from @berkhamstedboys and @berkhamstedsixth, with performances ranging from bassoons and a barbershop choir to powerful vocals. A standout moment came from student Barnaby M, who performed an original song inspired by his own cancer journey.
A huge thank you to our generous Berkhamsted community from local businesses to school families for donating prizes and supporting the auction. It was wonderful evening filled with music, generosity and community spirit 👏
