Developing a lifelong love of sport and exercise

Hear from Katy Costin, Director of Sport

Sport is an intrinsic part of student life at Berkhamsted. We believe playing and participating in sporting and team events builds our students’ confidence and character, enabling them to develop into motivated and resilient young adults.

We offer a broad range of sports and exercise classes both curricular and extra-curricular. Our students also participate in numerous inter-house sporting events and competitions.

Our team and individual sports have comprehensive weekend and midweek fixture lists, with many students representing the school each week.

Our students are encouraged to participate in a broad range of sports and physical activity within a competitive and supportive environment. They are encouraged to work hard to reach their full potential, improve their performance and strive for excellence.

Clearly an academically driven department […] the students get the support and encouragement to find and follow their own path whatever that may be – from setting up their own business or doing an apprenticeship.

An historic step - The senior girl’s cricket squad have just returned from their pre-season trip to La Manga, Spain. The first ever girls cricket tour.

The five day trip saw the girls play in the La Manga Women’s T20 Classic tournament. They played four group games, including victories against Streatham & Marlborough CC, Switzerland and Spain, before meeting Hursley Park CC in the final. With Hursley Park 97/4 off 13.1 overs, rain meant the game was abandoned and trophy shared, whilst captain Amelia also brought home the bowling award for the most wickets in the tournament (10 @ 5.0).

Thank you to everyone @lmtccspain & @teamtravelmanagement for a great week.

Today saw the final session of our winter programme:

From masterclasses, age group sessions, batting and spin bowling 121’s, wicket keeping club and fast bowling group - We’ve hit, bowled, caught and thrown more balls than ever before. We can’t wait for the season to start! 🏏 #TeamBerko
