Staff training session with Tamsin Greenway

Staff training session with Tamsin Greenway

This week, our sports department was treated to a CPD session led by none other than former England Netball player and Director of Netball at London Mavericks, Tamsin Greenway.

We were delighted to welcome Tamsin to our Knox-Johnston Sports Centre, where she held the session in our multi-purpose Sports Hall. Our sports teachers were put through their paces as Tamsin guided them through a variety of drills and games to improve netball performance.

As part of staff’s continuous professional development, this was a fantastic opportunity for teachers and coaches to upskill and gain knowledge to pass on to our pupils. The session developed transferable skills that can be applied to all sports such as movement, finding space, communication and coordination.

The session was run for all sports staff, including those who specialise in sports very different to netball. This ensures our staff are constantly developing as coaches and educators, and don’t remain complacent within a narrow area of sport. The value of sessions such as these, particularly when delivered by someone with professional experience, has a direct impact on pupils’ performance as the department continues to grow in its collective knowledge.

A huge thank you to Tamsin for delivering such an insightful session. We are proud of our ongoing partnership with London Mavericks Netball franchise, which gives pupils the opportunity to interact with high-achieving professional players in masterclasses.

This partnership continues to accelerate the development of our performance athletes and inspire those not yet on a performance pathway to pursue their playing potential.
