SUCCESS FOR DAVID AT THE 2016 HENRY KITCHENER PRIZE AWARDS
Congratulations to David Saunders, a Year 8 student at Berkhamsted Boys, who was judged the winner of the Excellent Young Essay category in the Henry Kitchener Prize Awards, run by the Institute for Food, Brain and Behaviour.
The 2016 Awards were made on Thursday 10 March at Goodenough College in London. The winners were presented with their certificates by Henry Kitchener’s niece, Lady Emma Fellowes, LVO (pictured with David above), who sponsors the Award and is the wife of Lord Julian Fellowes, creator of Downton Abbey.
The Institute for Food, Brain and Behaviour launched the Henry Kitchener Prize in 2014, in memory of Henry, 3rd Earl Kitchener, trustee of the Institute and its predecessor organisations. Henry was an early pioneer in engaging with the scientific evidence that nutrition affects behaviour. The Institute aims to encourage young scientists to explore how scientific research in this area might help solve practical problems.
Essayists answered the question “In the light of how our diet has changed over the last century, how does nutrition affect the developing brain? and prizes are awarded in three categories: Senior Essay, Junior Essay and Excellent Young Essay. The IFBB reports that there were a great number of entries, and we congratulate David on his achievement on winning the Excellent Young Essay Award, sponsored by Holroyd Howe.
