Specialist Sport Teachers

Berkhamsted’s PE Department consists of specialist teachers who provide expert teaching and coaching, before, during and after school. In addition, we employ a number of external coaches to support our sport programmes.

Impressive numbers of pupils represent the school each week in various sports and all pupils are encouraged to be involved in competitive sport at the appropriate level.

Berkhamsted Named in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2025 🏏

We’re thrilled to announce that Berkhamsted has been recognised as one of the Top 100 Senior Schools for Cricket in the UK by @thecricketer Schools Guide! 🎉

This incredible achievement reflects the hard work and passion of everyone involved in cricket at Berkhamsted. From outstanding coaching and fixture programmes to our commitment to growing the sport – especially for girls – it’s an exciting time for cricket at our school!

Cricket at Berkhamsted:
✅ Cricket became our major summer sport for girls in 2019.
✅ Our 1st XI reached the National T20 Finals in 2022.
✅ 450 girls played cricket in lessons last season!

We’ve also seen huge milestones, including appointing Mr. Costin as our first Head of Girls’ Cricket in 2023 and launching our girls’ 2nd XI in 2024.

With many of our pupils excelling at county and club level – and 2022 captain Bethan Miles now playing professionally at Surrey CCC – Berkhamsted is a fantastic place for cricketers to thrive.

‘We are immensely proud of our cricket programme and are excited about continuing to move things forward. Berkhamsted is a great place for any cricketer to go to school’, Mr Costin said.

Here’s to continuing this amazing journey! 🏆
