Results and Destinations

In 2026, Berkhamsted Sixth students progressed to leading universities, degree apprenticeships and other destinations across the UK. Seven students secured places at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, while others gained places at leading Russell Group universities such as Durham and Exeter, with University of Bath and Loughborough University proving popular too.

In 2026, seven Berkhamsted Sixth students secured places at the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge. Courses include Mathematics, Classics, Biomedical Science, Ancient and Modern History, English Literature, Chemistry and Geography. Over the past five years, 27 Berkhamsted students have progressed to Oxford or Cambridge, reflecting a strong record of success in applications to these highly competitive universities.

Berkhamsted Sixth offers students a choice of 28 subject options, with A Levels forming the core of our Sixth Form curriculum. In September 2026 we are introducing

Subjects include Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Classical Civilisation, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Drama and Theatre Studies, Economics, English Language & Literature, English Literature, Geography, History, Latin, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, French, Spanish, Music, Photography, Physical Education, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies and Sociology.

The 28 subject options also include BTEC Physical Education and the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Food Science & Nutrition, providing additional pathways alongside A Levels.

Students can also choose to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is equivalent to half an A Level for university applications.

For entry to Berkhamsted Sixth in September 2026, students need a minimum of 43 points from their best eight GCSE subjects and must meet the requirements to study three A Levels.

Students will normally need at least a Grade 6 in each subject they wish to study at A Level, although some subjects have higher entry requirements.

For students who began Year 10 studying eight GCSEs and take the Learning Support Option, the entry requirement is 38 points from seven GCSEs.

Yes. Berkhamsted Sixth welcomes applications from students currently studying at other schools. External students applying for September 2026 entry need a minimum of 43 points from their best eight GCSE subjects and must qualify to study three A Levels.
