Day 3 comes to a close for our Year 7s at PGL! The dance floor is ready for the silent disco! 💃🕺🪩
After a long journey, our Year 7s arrived yesterday ready to enjoy their first day at PGL! ☀️
After building a meaningful connection with the Afghan Refugee Women’s Cricket Team on #InternationalWomensDay, our Stephenson House pupils were honoured to see them play during their UK tour. 🏏
Thanks to the generosity and leadership of Clare Connor, @meljones72, and emmastaples21 – remarkable women who have each played a role in supporting and providing safety for this team – we witnessed not only a match, but a movement in action.
These athletes are more than players. They are advocates using their platform to fight for recognition, and to amplify the voices of 21 million women and girls in Afghanistan who have been silenced. Their courage, resilience, and unity were matched in the stands by our own girls, who cheered them on with pride and purpose.
The most powerful moment came after the match, in the shared laughter, stories, and easy connection between two groups of young women from very different worlds swapping badges, signing bats, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
It was a beautiful reminder: when women support, champion, and uplift each other, incredible things happen.
We are proud to stand alongside this team and will continue to use our voices with meaning for those that are silenced.

Eggs-ceptional energy at @berkhamstedgirls! 🥚
Our annual egg‑and‑spoon race was cracking fun, with everyone racing hard for the win. 🐣
All participants were scrambling for victory, but Wolstenholme came out of their shells and were absolutely egg‑static to take first place! 🏆
Our first Gardening club session of 2026 was a huge success – everyone threw themselves into their jobs with amazing enthusiasm. We’re so proud of what we achieved in just 40 minutes… and yes, we even met a 🪱, a 🐛 and a 🐌 along the way! Can’t wait for next week, when we’ll be focusing on some exciting new garden projects. 🌱
Wave of Light for International Women’s Day 2026
This week, the Berkhamsted Girls community came together at Chapel for International Women’s Day, to celebrate the girls and women around the world whose Human Rights have been impacted.
One by one, students stood to speak a girl’s name aloud and raise a light of hope, honouring those whose voices have been silenced around the world.
This moment is the culmination of a term‑long project led by our Community Prefects, who have been advocating for real girls facing injustice across the globe.
Each of our Houses has chosen to serve others in a powerful way: by advocating for a girl whose voice has been silenced or whose human rights have been denied. Instead of “just another bake sale”, they are using their skills, voices, and integrity to take real, meaningful action.
Pupils in Stephenson House researched sportswomen in Afghanistan who compete amongst Taliban threats and organised a cricket match in honour of the Women’s Afghan Cricket team who are only able to operate, because they train outside of their native country.
Holme will create a mini documentary and social media campaign to highlight the dangers faced by street-living children and support charities providing safe routes and schooling.
This is courage.
This is solidarity.

On your marks, get set… flip! 🥞🏃♀️
Our annual pancake race at @berkhamstedgirls was taken very seriously, with runners from all seven Houses whisking their way around the Quad. There were a few flips, trips and flying pancakes along the way, all part of the fun!
Following a steward’s inquiry (and a close call at the finish line 👀), St David’s rose to the occasion to claim victory over New Stede and Wolstenholme.
A truly sizzling effort from everyone involved! 💙🥞
It’s time for the annual House Christmas tree decorating competition at @berkhamstedgirls! 🎄
A huge well done to every House for their creativity and sparkle. Our special guest judge Father Christmas had a very tough decision to make. 🎅🎁
New Stede were announced as this year’s winners and will be treated to a Christmas party tomorrow morning.🏆
Meet our @berkhamstedgirls Prefects for 2026! 🎉
