Interested in becoming a Governor at Berkhamsted Schools Group?

Our articles of association allow for a minimum of twelve and a maximum of fifteen Governors at any one time. Subject to performance Governors will normally serve up to three terms of three years and we aim to ensure an even distribution of retirement dates to allow the continued safe running of the school.

The Governors have agreed that we should have a wide range of expertise within the governing body but that at all times the following core skills must be covered.

Education, Business Expertise, Law, Governance, Finance, Property

If you are interested in knowing more about the requirements of being a Governor please email our Clerk mentioning your experience and why you want to join our board.

Current Vacancy – Chair of Governors

We are currently looking for an experienced, forward-looking and committed leader to become our new Chair of Governors and to guide the Board and support the Group through its next exciting chapter.

The next Chair will be a forward-thinking and commercial leader. It is likely they will have come from outside of education perhaps from senior roles in business or the public sector more broadly and will have experience of operating strategically and at a senior level in complex organisations. They will be a strong communicator and advocate for Berkhamsted and above all will be energetic, enthusiastic, and have a genuine desire to make a difference in education.

As the Chair will need to spend time in the School, it is essential that they live within an hour of it, and ideally will know the area well. They could be a former parent or pupil, but Berkhamsted welcomes applicants also from individuals who have no connection to the School.
