Our new Senior Headteachers
Mrs Jo Vila – Headteacher Berkhamsted Girls
Mrs Jo Vila taught at St George’s Harpenden before moving to Berkhamsted in September 2010. She has held the posts of Director of Girls Sport, Director of Sport, and Deputy Head Co-curricular, most recently remodelling and relaunching the School’s provision of Clubs and Societies, in the form of Friday’s ‘Stretch’ activity programme, and the app which supports pupils’ logging their record of involvement and achievement and the character strengths which they have developed through these activities.
Mr Tom Hockedy – Headteacher Berkhamsted Boys
Mr Tom Hockedy held posts at Millfield and Uppingham before joining Berkhamsted in September 2013. He has held posts including as a Head of Department, Head of Sixth Form House, and Deputy Head Girls. His service at Berkhamsted was put on pause while he worked in a start-up in the food and drink sector as Operations Director, returning to the School after a successful period of expansion to resume his career as a teacher and school leader.
