Anna signs for Women’s T20 Super League
|Many congratulations to Anna Nicholls (Year 13 – Churchill) who has been selected to play for the Yorkshire Diamonds in the inaugural Women’s Super League this summer.|
There will be six teams with each squad having 15 players made up of England, England Academy, Overseas and County players. The Oversees stars include Australian Captain Meg Lanning, New Zealand superstar Suzie Bates and World number 1 Australian all-rounder Elyse Perry, plus all the top players in the England National team.
Anna, who is a regular in the England under 19 team and was the first woman to ever represent the School’s 1st XI, has been in good form this year, both on tour in Sri Lanka over the Easter holidays and in regular fixtures this summer.
When asked about her selection she said: “I’m really excited to be part of it all, but it’s also nerve-racking at the same time being in a squad with England and top Overseas players. It will be a wonderful opportunity to learn from the best players and coaches in the world.”
All matches in the tournament will be played at either 1st class or test grounds, including The Oval, Taunton, Old Trafford and Headingly (Anna’s home ground for the competition). The tournament will be played over a four-week period in July and August, with the Finals day set for Sunday 21st August at the Essex County Ground, Chelmsford.
We wish Anna all the best in the competition and look forward to following her progress.
