Bucks Netball Tournament Winners!
Heatherton House walked away proud winners of the recent Chiltern and South
Bucks Primary Schools’ Netball Association End of Season High 5
Tournament.
It was a very cold and damp start to the day, which did
improve – as did our netball – throughout the morning! We fielded two teams, and our second team, made up of girls from Years 4, 5 & 6 – Emily
W (Captain), Alicia R, Holly G, Leila P and Annie
R and managed by Mrs Dawn Miller played five games in their qualifying round,
winning three and losing two to be placed a very credible third in their
group.
Our first team of Year 6 girls – Lucy W
(Captain), Sylvie E, Anna M, Mia N and Georgia VS,
managed by Mrs Adams, won four out of five games in their group to gain second place
and qualify for the quarter finals. They then went on to beat Robertswood then
Holmer Green School in the quarter and semi-finals respectively to come up
against Gateway in the final.
This was quite a match, and having not beaten
Gateway in two friendly matches earlier in the season, it was a daunting
prospect! The girls got off to a
positive start and were 3-0 up going into the second half. They played really
well together and their marking, passing and dodging were all working well and
our shooting had also improved. After an exciting second half, the final score
was 5-0 to Heatherton! We won the trophy
and the honour of representing the Dr Challoner’s School Sports Partnership in
the School Games in July. Well done girls!
