Higher Education, Careers & Gap Year Fair 2016
On Tuesday 26th April, Berkhamsted School hosted their annual Higher Education, Careers and Gap Year Fair. |
The fair (organised in association with Inspiring Futures Foundation) is open to students in Years 11-13 from all the schools in the local area as well as their parents. Despite flurries of unseasonal snow, this year’s fair saw a bumper attendance. Visitors were given the opportunity to talk to teams from around 50 universities and other higher education institutions from right across the UK. For those interested in overseas study, this was supplemented by a stand offering advice on US university applications. Meanwhile, representatives from a wide range of both major national and more local employers were on hand to give advice on careers across a broad number of sectors. For those looking for a Gap Year experience, 18 Gap Year providers were also on hand to answer questions – their offerings ranged from work placement experiences through to adventure trips and cookery and language studies. New for this year, the main fair was preceded by a presentation, given by representatives from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge explaining the Oxbridge Admissions Process. All in all the event offered a perfect one-stop opportunity for students to gain a flavour of a wide range of options and so make more informed choices regarding higher education, alternative pathways and careers.
