Silver medal for the 15As at National Lacrosse Championships
The Year 10 girls played with great spirit to secure second
place at the Rathbones National Schools Lacrosse Championships at Surrey Sports
Park.
Undoubtedly the pinnacle school event in English Lacrosse’s calendar;
the tournament welcomes schools from Wales, Scotland and all over England.
Berkhamsted, as reigning champions from 2015 and 2016, breezed
through the group stages, going into the knockout stages undefeated. The girls
held their nerve in three further close encounters and looked in fine form for
the final.
Up against St Catherine’s in the final, and Berkhamsted’s
opponents edged out a 2-3 victory with an overtime golden goal. It was not to
be another consecutive national title, but they gave it their all and could not
have come closer.
Well done to the 15Bs who picked up two wins and a draw to
finish fourth in the group against the top Lacrosse schools in the country while
the U19s reached the last 16 on Saturday.
The final day of competition is today, Tuesday, with the U14
and U13 teams competing.
With consecutive years of impressive performances at a
national level, Berkhamsted is building a reputation for becoming one of the
leading schools in the country for Netball and Lacrosse.
