Swimming success: Charlie Rayner represents East of England at Edinburgh International Meet

Charlie Rayner (Year 11 Bees), who trains at Hatfield Swimming Club and represents Berkhamsted School, was selected to represent the East of England at the Edinburgh International Meet on Saturday 18 March.

This event boasts a high quality field with International representation from no fewer the 31 countries. Charlie competed in the Under 18 age group and had qualified  for four events with his results and placings as follows: 200 metre breaststroke (10th), 200 Individual medley (26th), 100 metre breaststroke (32nd) and 100 metre fly (32nd) – a fabulous achievement at national level. Charlie’s  times were some of his fastest ever with the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly times beating his previous personal bests.

It has been an excellent year for Charlie who also competed at the ASA Winter Nationals held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield in December. This was Charlie’s second winter nationals meet where he performed brilliantly winning a bronze in the 200m breaststroke 15/under age group. Throughout Charlie’s busy schedule, he’s been an integral part of the school swimming team representing the school in the National Team Finals at the London Aquatic Centre in November. We would like to wish Charlie the best of luck at the East Region championships in May and the British Championships and long course Nationals in the summer.
