The Heatherton triathlon team have had a fantastic season!
After practising hard during their weekly triathlon club, our girls have competed strongly at a practice triathlon at The Beacon and a friendly event held at Pipers Corner School.

Our final event of the season was the annual Chiltern
Harriers Triathlon at Chesham Leisure centre. This is a very popular event with lots of schools and local clubs taking
part. Carrie represented Heatherton in the
9/10 age group, competing against girls over a year older, and came an impressive
26th, completing two lengths of the pool, cycling 1,000m and finishing off with an
800m run.

Hannah A, Holly, Ellie, Meg, Emma and Isabella all competed
in a very competitive 11/12 age group, with girls ranging from Years 5 –
7. The girls had to swim four lengths of the pool
before completing a 2,000m challenging cycle across the fields and then finishing
with a 1,200m run!

Heatherton came away with some impressive individual
results – a Bronze medal for Hannah and a Team Gold for Hannah, Holly (who finished 6th) and Ellie (who finished 14th) – an incredible achievement
to finish the season. The girls were presented their medals by Chesham’s Mayor Emily Culverhouse. Well done also to Isabella (30th), Emma (24th),
and Meg (19th).

A very big thank you to Heatherton’s triathlon coach, Sandra, and to
Mrs Adams for all of their help this year and thank you also to all of the
organisers of the events.

“I
am so impressed with the sporting commitment the Heatherton girls and their
families show,” says Heatherton’s proud PE Teacher Caroline Adams. “These
results are a testament to all the hard work the girls have put in this term.”
